Accurate Heat Flow & Phase Change Thermal Analysis

What is Calorimetry?

Calorimetry is the measurement of the amount of heat needed to cause, or as a result of, changes in a material. We use calorimetry to measure the specific heat capacity of a sample compared to a known reference material or to determine the heat of combustion. Calorimetry can be performed on a variety of materials such as plastic, polymers, adhesives, and more to determine the following:

  • Thermal Phase Changes
    • Melting Point
    • Freezing Point
    • Glass Transition Temperature
    • Crystallization Point
  • Energy Absorbed
  • Energy Released
  • Thermal Stability
  • General Chemical Analysis
  • Heat of Combustion
  • Specific Heat
  • And More

Calorimetric Testing Techniques

Most calorimetric testing is performed by differential scanning calorimetry. Heat of combustion is performed by bomb calorimetry. Our thermogravimetric analyzer has dynamic thermal analysis capabilities to collect heat flow data. For inquiries about our calorimetric testing capabilities or to request a quote, click here.
